Detectives told Milimani Chief Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe that the 21-day detention will allow them to complete their investigation, which aims to determine the cause of the crime.

Police also sought court approval to conduct a mental health evaluation of the suspect, as well as DNA testing and a postmortem examination, in an effort to locate the missing body parts.

The police argued that Wambua is a flight risk and could be a threat to public safety, thus having to continue to be detained while the investigation continues. Wambua appeared in court without being represented by a lawyer.

Despite his murder case sending shockwaves down the spines of many Kenyans, Wambua seemed undisturbed and was seen struggling with some papers.

In the clip, he was seen repeatedly smearing white paper over his nose and mouth with his cuffed hands while in court.

Officials who did not want to be named told Tuko.co.ke that Wambua allegedly revealed to them that he killed his wife on suspicion of cheating on her.
