Kenyans are mourning the death of Mathew Nyamlori, a man celebrated for his courage and determination following his sudden death.
Nyamlori died on Monday morning, January 20, 2025, at the Aga Khan Hospital after a long battle with stomach cancer.
How Did Nyamlori Celebrate His Last Birthday?
His death came just two weeks after he celebrated his birthday through a touching post on social media that touched the hearts of many.
Saturday, January 4, lying in bed at the Aga Khan Hospital, PoisonousNyamlori posted a message on his Facebook page reflecting on life, thanking God, and remaining hopeful despite his deteriorating condition.
“Thank you God for giving me another year. Despite the pain, I will overcome it. Oh Jesus, I pray that the year 2025 will be good to me! I am just a piece of clay, but you are the potter. Mold me in your best way. May I be the best vessel to carry the Word Yours. Nothing is impossible for you. My tears have been my food during the day and at night when they ask me where my God is.” he wrote.
Nyamlori was later transferred to the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi as his condition worsened, but he eventually passed away, leaving his loved ones grieving.
Nyamlori's Amazing Endurance
Nyamlori became known throughout Kenya after sitting the Grade Eight National Examination (KCPE) nine times due to financial challenges that prevented him from continuing with secondary education.
Finally his perseverance paid off when he managed to join secondary school through scholarship.
Despite a life of poverty and many challenges, Nyamlori later graduated from Kenyatta University in Nairobi with a degree in Public Administration and Policy.
His story inspired many as it represented perseverance and relentless determination to achieve dreams.
Nyamlori's battle with Cancer
In his previous interview with TUKO.co.ke, Nyamlori said he was diagnosed with stage three stomach cancer in October 2023.
He also revealed that he started his first round of chemotherapy after being diagnosed and completed the treatment in February 2024.
However, the first phase treatment was not enough, and the oncologist required that he undergo a second phase treatment, which he started in May 2024.
