Three-time Olympic champion reveals rigorous daily routine that helps her maintain peak form

Faith Kipyegon’s rigorous daily routine helps her to maintain peak form required to dominate the track.

Three-time Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon has shared insights into the rigorous daily routine that has cemented her place as one of the greatest middle-distance runners in history.

The Kenyan track star, who clinched her third consecutive 1500m Olympic gold medal at the 2024 Paris Games, credits her discipline and faith for her sustained success.

Kipyegon, who also set a new world record in the 1500m with a blistering time of 3:49.04 in Paris, starts each day with spiritual grounding.

Faith Kipyegon has explained why the first of her three Olympic 1500 meter medals won at the 2016 games remains the best of her career.

“Every morning when I wake up, the first thing I do is pray to God to give me health and strength to stay strong and finish the day well,” she revealed in a previous episode of the Engage Talk.

Her day begins at 5:40 a.m. when she heads out for her first training session. “I take my bag, get into my car, and head to training,” Kipyegon explained.

“My coach, Patrick Sang, and I meet at different tracks, whether it’s in Kaptagat or Kipchoge (Keino).”

'I'm scared of her'- Sifan Hassan reveals the Kenyan star she fears most, tips Faith Kipyegon for marathon success

Dutch woman Sifan Hassan has disclosed the Kenyan marathoner she fears the most as she disclosed that Faith Kipyegon is destined for more success if she moves to the marathon.

By 6:00 a.m., she’s already deep into her morning session, which typically involves a grueling 20-kilometer run. The session wraps up by 7:00 a.m., after which Kipyegon takes her breakfast.

Mid-morning sessions, often reserved for exercises, kick off around 10:00 a.m., particularly on Mondays and Wednesdays. These sessions focus on strength and conditioning to keep her body in peak form. After a break for lunch at 11:30 a.m., Kipyegon resumes training in the afternoon.

“Around 3:00 p.m., we have what we call the ‘easy run,’ which is about 10 kilometers,” she said with a chuckle. “I know 10 kilometers sounds tough for most people! But for us, that’s the easier part of the day.”

'A special person' - Faith Kipyegon on the sacrifices Olympic medalist husband Timothy Kitum made for her to succeed

Kitum, who won bronze in the 800 meters at the London Olympic games in 2012, has played an integral role in building Faith Kipyegon’s iconic career.

Evenings are reserved for relaxation and recovery. “It’s time for supper and rest. We either take a book to read or just go to bed early to prepare for the next day, which follows the same routine,” Kipyegon added.

The demanding routine, which combines intense training with deliberate rest and recovery, is a testament to Kipyegon’s dedication to her craft. Her consistency has not only earned her Olympic glory but also inspired countless athletes around the world.

As Kipyegon continues to dominate the track, her daily regimen serves as a blueprint for aspiring runners aiming to achieve greatness. “It’s tough,” she admitted, “but with faith, discipline, and hard work, anything is possible.”
