Heal my leg while hooligans disrupt the Gachagua meeting
Gachagua is no stranger to chaos at his events, as similar incidents have occurred in the past. On Thursday, November 28, chaos broke out during a burial ceremony attended by the former deputy president in Limuru, Kiambu county.
Gachagua had attended the funeral service of the late Erastus Nduati, also known as Mwene Limuru, when suspected thugs disrupted the event and injured several people.
A video captured by TUKO.co.ke showed chaos breaking out as thugs started shaking the tent where the former deputy president and his allies including Kiambu Senator Karungo Wa Thang'wa were sitting.
Shortly before Gachagua was invited to address the mourners, a group of locals tried to uproot the tent causing those inside to flee in fear.
Believers were seen running for safety while rival groups fought and destroyed properties of unknown value.
Amidst the chaos, a car reported to belong to the former vice president broke down. Photographs showed the rear window of a black Toyota Land Cruiser being smashed.
Responding to the attack, Gachagua criticized the government Kenya First by removing his security, claiming it left him vulnerable to attack at Limuru's funeral.
Gachagua complained that the government removed the last elements of his security after he was removed from office.
He said although he chose not to challenge the government's decision, he was not happy with it.
He noted that any Kenyan who has served at his level of government is always given security even after leaving office.
The former vice president suggested that the government's decision appeared to be intended to leave him vulnerable to attack.
