Bandari and Shabana share spoils as KCB held to a stalemate by City Stars

Bandari and Shabana shared spoils at the Mbaraki Sports Club while KCB were held by Nairobi City Stars in Machakos.

Bandari and Shabana played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw in an FKF Premier League fixture at Mbaraki Sports Club on Saturday.

The visitors, Shabana, made an early statement by scoring within the first minute of the game. Capitalizing on Bandari’s momentary lapse in concentration, Brian Michira found the back of the net straight from the kickoff, sending Shabana fans into a frenzy.

The Dockers, however, refused to be rattled for long. Anchored by goalkeeper James Omusinde, who marshaled his defense comprising Siraj Mohammed and Joseph Onyango, Bandari worked to regain control of the game.

AFC Leopards’ comedy of defensive errors left them embarrassed as their off-field problems spilled over to the pitch, handing struggling FC Talanta a big win.

While Shabana sought to extend their lead with relentless attacks, Bandari’s defense held firm, ensuring the visitors went into halftime with a slim 1-0 advantage.

In the second half, Bandari returned with renewed vigor. Despite Shabana’s dominance and a near second goal that was brilliantly denied by Omusinde, Bandari kept pressing.

Their persistence paid off in the 71st minute when towering defender Siraj Mohammed scored the equalizer, igniting celebrations among the home fans.

With momentum on their side, Bandari pushed for a winner, and William Gitama came close with a dazzling solo effort that ultimately lacked the finishing touch. Shabana, on the other hand, maintained a solid defensive structure, ensuring the match ended in a stalemate.

KCB held by Nairoby City Stars

At Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos, KCB and Nairobi City Stars also played out a 1-1 draw in another FKF Premier League encounter.

Coming into the match as league leaders, KCB were the favorites. However, it was City Stars who struck first, with Kelvin Etemesi opening the scoring in the 5th minute.

Tusker FC coach Charles Okere is the latest to join the call for the privatization of the Kenyan Premier League.

The Bankers responded swiftly, with Philemon Nyakwakwa heading in the equalizer in the 22nd minute.

The second half saw both teams create chances but fail to find the winning goal. In the end, they settled for a draw, sharing the spoils in an evenly contested match.

The results leave Bandari and Shabana with valuable points as they continue their campaigns, while KCB maintain linger at the top despite the draw.
