The American-made car is one of the most powerful SUVs and is loved in Kenya due to its comfortable and spacious interior plus its ability to maneuver rough roads.
Built by Ganeral Motors, Escalade lives true to its moniker of scaling defensive walls or ramparts with the aid of ladders or siege towers.
The car uses its extended-length to rule the roads at a maximum speed of 260km per hour, all powered by a 6.2-litre V-8 making 403 hp and 417 lb-ft of torque.
A Cadillac Escalade 12 does not come cheap as it costs upwards of Ksh12 million. McDonald Mariga is reported to have shelled out close to Ksh20 million on the car, being Ksh12 million on purchase and close to Ksh8 million on duty.

During his campaign for the Kibra Parliamentary seat in 2019, McDonald Mariga turned heads when he arrived in a H2 Hummer.
The first model of the high-end automobile was developed in 1983 for the US Army according to its maker, AM General with Mariga’s car believed to have been purchased in 2010, the year he lifted the UEFA Champions League with Inter Milan.
The Hummer H2 is known for its raw but also its fuel-guzzling power and distinct design. In its heyday, the Hummer H2 was praised for its off-road capabilities and robust build.
It featured a 6.0-liter V8 engine and a four-speed automatic transmission, making it a favorite among those who needed a vehicle for heavy-duty off-road use. However, its massive size and poor fuel efficiency were some of its drawbacks.
Mariga’s car is believed to have cost the former midfielder over Ksh13 million in purchase and taxes, a year after General Motors discontinued the Hummer brand in 2009, marking the end of the H2s production run.
