Sarah Mtalii Admits That Her Marriage With Simon Kabu Died In 2022

Sarah Mtalii revealed that she separated from Simon in early 2022, long before the arranged marriage went public

Despite trying many counselors and mediation, the marriage still sank

Businesswoman Sarah Mtalii has opened up about her emotional journey to the end of her marriage to Simon Kabu.

When Sarah became emotionally detached from her marriage to Simon

In an open interview with Dr. Ofweneke, Sarah admitted that she separated emotionally and mentally from their marriage two years before the official separation in public.

“I have noticed that we separate two or three months before we physically leave. So we begin to withdraw mentally, emotionally, then finally physically. I left for a while, but I was still there.”

For Sarah, the main reason for staying in the marriage was her children.

“I was raised in a close-knit family, and my desire was to see my children grow up in a close-knit family, where there is a mother and a father. You know, because I believe every parent has a role to play in raising children. So, there are some duties of a father that I knew I would leave, I could not do. But I have found that it is still possible.”

Apart from his family, business responsibilities also played a major role in his decision to stay.

“The second reason to stay was business because business was thriving,” he explained.

Sarah, along with Simon, were the face of Bonfire Adventures, and were often seen attending high-profile events, including international trips. However, what the public didn't see was the emotional divide that was going on between them.

An attempt to save the marriage

Sarah revealed that despite outward appearances, their marriage was secretly falling apart.

“When we went on a cruise, you find that we did not get separate rooms, and so it became difficult. I would sleep for a short time and then I would wake up again. During the day, everyone was creating commercial content on their own,” he narrated.

After years of trying to reconcile, Sarah explained that they finally gave up on marriage counseling.

“We tried to fix things. We've seen famous family counselors, marriage counselors, and therapists. We have seen about three of them, and at some point they all got tired. The counselors blessed us and told us that they have done everything they can and we can try other ways.”
