‘I’m not done yet’- Faith Kipyegon fires warning as she details the legacy she wants to leave behind

Faith Kipyegon is eyeing an even more successful season in 2025 as she continues to push her limits and build a lasting legacy.

Faith Kipyegon is just getting started and her serial rivals on the track are not ready for what the triple Olympic 1500m champion has in store for them.

Kipyegon might have been running for years but 2025 presents a new opportunity for her to scale to new heights and explore other opportunities while focusing on her major goal, being a source of inspiration to young girls and women.

The double world champion has been very vocal about her passion for the girl child and at 31 years of age, she wants to show them that it is possible to continue doing what seemed impossible. In fact, that is when things get sweeter and female athletes hit their peaks.

(function (v, d, o, ai) {
ai = d.createElement(‘script’);
ai.defer = true;
ai.async = true;
ai.src = v.location.protocol + o;
d.head.appendChild(ai);
})(window, document, ‘//a.vdo.ai/core/v-pulsesports-co-ke-v0/vdo.ai.js’);

Who will come out on top in 2025? This article explores the top track and field rivalries set to dominate the season.

In 2023, Faith Kipyegon made a name for herself and she will forever be remembered for those exploits. She broke the 1500m, mile and 5000m world records and then secured double victory (1500m and 5000m) at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

In 2024, she had an injury at the start of the season and started quite late but still showcased her potential as she defended her 1500m title and won a silver medal behind Beatrice Chebet in the 5000m.

From her exploits on the track, she wants the girl child to learn that anything is achievable if one puts their mind to it. Her wins do not come easy since she has to burn the midnight oil and make a lot of sacrifices and it’s all worth it just by looking at her.

Faith Kipyegon also inspired her sister Beatrice Mutai, who also specializes in road running, to pick up her spikes and return to athletics after having her baby.

“For me, I’m not done yet. I still want to do a lot, I still want to inspire young girls and many women out there. I inspired my own sister…where I was living as a young girl, now she is running a half marathon,” Faith Kipyegon said in an interview with Engage Talk.

“I used to encourage my sister that this thing might change our background and family status and she had a baby at that time. I told her a baby would not stop her from what she wanted to pursue and she stopped breastfeeding and started training.

Jamaican-Canadian legend explains why Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce can’t be ruled out yet

The three-time world champion insists that Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce still have plenty more to offer the world.

“That’s why I’m saying that there is a lot that I want to do and I want young girls and women to know that anything is possible. Success is only from hard work and discipline.”

For the 2025 season, Faith Kipyegon has her eyes fixed on defending her 1500m and 5000m titles at the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan later in the season. She will also be eyeing the trophy at the Diamond League Meeting final in Zurich.

Before then, Kipyegon might make appearances in Diamond League Meetings and other races and might even lower her world record time, who knows?
