Former South Africa women’s captain Janine van Wyk and her partner Julia Molin have announced that they are expecting a baby, solidifying the union of the two ex-footballers.
Van Wyk and her Swedish partner have shared their football journey across clubs in Europe, including Glasgow City and JVW FC, and now share a life together. They are now set to welcome their first child.
“Our pack is growing with a tiny human. Coming in 2025,” they posted on their respective social media accounts.

Van Wyk has been in a relationship with Molin since 2021 when they reportedly started dating while both were playing for Glasgow City in Scotland and decided to take their relationship to the next level a year later.
The 37-year-old South African has been an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights in sports, openly sharing her journey as a gay athlete, having previously opened up on how she ‘came out’ aged 16.

“I openly came out to my friends and family even though there were some obstacles and challenges with my family, but homophobia has had a rapid decline in society, which is really good,” Van Wyk told The Guardian in a past interview.
“I came out because I automatically knew that’s who I wanted to be, and I was never afraid. It’s not the same for everyone, but I hope one day it can be,” she said.
