Siaya: A man is accused of persuading his wife to enter his mother's house before killing her with a sword

Residents of Kolal-Nyasita village in Alego/Usonga constituency have been shocked after a 24-year-old man identified as Alloyce Ochieng allegedly hacked his estranged wife Laurine Ochieng to death.

According to David Otieno, a neighbour, Laurine had arrived at Alloyce's house around 8am to pick up her five-year-old daughter. He was accompanied by his sister and a boda boda driver.

“Alloyce seemed calm and welcomed Laurine. She even invited her to her mother's house to discuss their issues,” Otieno narrated.

Witnesses said that when they got inside, Alloyce asked her mother to leave the house so she could talk to Laurine privately.

Moments later, Alloyce closed the door and began attacking him with a sword as her screams filled the air.

Who tried to stop Alloyce

Pastor Musa Otieno Okech, another resident, described the horrific incident, adding that the suspect's mother begged him but to no avail.

Oketch said that, seeing the consequences of his actions, the 24-year-old man ran away from the scene.

“His mother and neighbors tried to plead with him to stop, but he didn't want to listen. It was only after realizing that he was dead that he opened the door and ran away,” he said.

Siaya Sub-County Police Commander, Everline Cherotich, confirmed the incident and said the police are looking for Alloyce.

Meanwhile, angry relatives of Laurine stormed the house shortly after the body was taken to the Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary.

They set fire to Alloyce's house and burned her mother's house before heading to the morgue.

Speaking at the scene, Janet Atieno, his neighbor, called for a peaceful resolution of disputes between the couple.

“Violence only leaves pain and damage. Couples should seek help or mediation instead of taking such extreme measures,” he said.

A Siaya man killed his wife for KSh 30

On Sunday, July 7, Benard Odweso allegedly killed his wife, Pamela Anyango, in Nyalula village.

Siaya county police commander Cleti Kimaiyo confirmed the incident and added that Odweso also stabbed his 24-year-old son.

According to the police report, Odweso became enraged after his wife accused him of stealing KSh 30 that was meant to be donated to the church.
