In the change announced by the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja on Thursday, January 16, Nairobi County Commander Adamson Bungei has been returned to headquarters and named director of operations.
Coast Regional Police Commander George Sedah has been transferred to Nairobi to replace Bungei.
Police spokesperson Resila Onyango has been appointed Commander of the Diplomatic Police Unit, and the current Kiambu Police Commander, Michael Nyaga Muchiri, has replaced him.
Kwale Police Commander Ali Nuno has been promoted to become the Coast Regional Police Commander, hoping to solve the challenges related to Mombasa's gangs.
IG Kanja, who described the change as normal and aimed at strengthening service operations, named Michael Sang as the head of DCI in the Eastern Region.
In another change, Mwangi Wanderi, the former Head of the National Forensic Laboratory, will now be the Director of Human Capital at Vigilance House.
Meanwhile, Rosemary Kuraru is now the head of the National Forensic Laboratory, and Judy Jebet will take over the Community Policing Unit.

In a statement seen by TUKO.co.ke, Ndung'u Wainaina, executive director of the International Center for Policy and Conflict, condemned the arrest of the protesters and subsequent police intimidation.
Wainaina claimed that the Constitution allows peaceful assembly, accusing the police of violating it and demanding that the prisoners be released immediately.
He also announced that they will provide free legal representation to anyone arrested for participating in the protest.
Wainaina said that the current generation has taken economic status as its mission.
