KCB RFC face a tricky fixture against Nakuru RFC but the bankers hope to maintain their unbeaten run at The Den.
Eight-time Kenya Cup Champions KCB RFC will host Nakuru in the fifth round of the 2024/2025 Kenya Cup campaign at the KCB Sports Club, Ruaraka on January 18.
The bankers, under the leadership of head coach Oliver Mang’eni, will be seeking their fifth win of the season this weekend after an excellent start to the new campaign.
Onyala, who had initially refused to commit to the contract offered to him on the table by KRU for the upcoming season, has made a comeback to the squad, alongside Tony Omondi.
Speaking ahead of the much-awaited fixture, Mang’eni noted his concerns over the possible attacking threat of Nakuru RFC, who are well known for their agility, physicality and aggressiveness.

He said: “We know for sure that Nakuru will come at us in the strongest ways possible therefore, we need to be on top of our game and maintain concentration throughout the match to stay at bay. We are having an excellent run of games but we need to improve in certain areas especially our defence and attack. I trust my players and I am certain we are ready for the duel on Saturday.”
Kabras Sugar will be hoping to continue their dominance in the Kenya Cup when they face South Coast Pirates in Kakamega, while Nondies will be hoping to maintain their winning start to the season by piling more misery on Mwamba after being thrashed by Quins last weekend.
Mang’eni is expected to make minimal changes in the squad that thrashed Mwamba 88-02 last weekend. At the back, Elvis Namusasi, Austin Sikutwa and Levy Amunga are set to start. Bob Muhati, Emmanuel Silungi, Jack Adero and Laban Kipsang are also favorites to start for the Ruaraka-based side.
KCB will however miss the services of the experienced Vincent Onyala, Samuel Asati, Floyd Wabwire and Festus Shiasi who have joined the national side for the upcoming Perth 7s from January 24- 26 in Australia.
Currently, KCB sit at the top of the Kenya Cup table with 20 points followed by sugar millers Kabras, Menengai Oilers and Kenya Harlequin. The bankers have secured a 12 point difference, recording a blistering start to the season since the departure of tactician Curtis Olago last year.
