How the accident involving Tahmeed's bus happened

The fatal accident involved a truck transporting corn, another truck carrying firewood, and a Tahmeed Bus Company bus.

Witnesses said that one of the trucks, which was heading towards Nairobi, failed to brake and hit another truck that was being inspected by traffic officers in Embu County at a road checkpoint.

The police and residents of Embu spent more than an hour cutting the stuck metal from the two trucks to rescue the victims following the accident.

All the truck drivers were trapped inside their cabins, a situation that forced the police and residents to use a breakdown truck to separate the remains of the accident.

One driver was found dead, while the other was rushed to a nearby county hospital with serious injuries.

“The lack of adequate equipment led to a delay in rescue efforts, and this may have cost the life of one of the victims,” one witness complained.

Francis Ndirangu, coordinator of the Kirimari Ward rescue team, revealed that none of the bus passengers were injured.

“The passengers on the bus were lucky to recover without injuries,” said Ndirangu.
