The Confederation of African Football will conduct the CHAN 2024 draw in Nairobi on Wednesday night and here is everything you need to know.
Confederation of African Football (CAF) postponed the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) on Tuesday but the draw for the tournament will proceed on Wednesday in Nairobi.
The tournament, which features players based in local leagues, was set to take place between February 1 and 28 in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania but owing to logistical and infrastructural challenges, it has been pushed to August 2025.
It gives the host nations ample time to get everything ready but even as they prepare, the participating teams will be aware which sides they will face off with on Wednesday night.

The Confederation of African Football has yet again postopned the 2024 CHAN tournament, owing to a number of challenges ahead of the draw set to be held in Nairobi on Wednesday.
Time & where to watch
The draw will be conducted at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) and will commence at 8pm East African time.
Seventeen teams are already qualified and will feature in the draw, alongside two more, whose identity is yet to be known, with the ceremony, which will be led by CAF president Patrice Motsepe, set to be live on CAF’s YouTube channel.
Participating teams
The 17 teams that have already qualified are co-hosts Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda alongside Morocco, Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania, Niger, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo, Sudan, Zambia, Angola and Madagascar. Two more will join them to make it 19.

Guests
President William Ruto is expected to grace the ceremony but the draw will feature East African legends McDonald Mariga (Kenya), the now Football Kenya Federation vice president, Hassan Wasswa (Uganda) and Tanzania’s Mrisho Ngasa (Tanzania), as draw assistants.
Prize money
Winners of the CHAN 2024 tournament in August will pocket $3.5 (Ksh452 million), a 75 per cent increase, with the total prize pool also increased by 32 per cent to $10.4 million (Ksh1.3 billion).
Who are the past winners?
Senegal are the current champions after beating hosts Algeria on post-match penalties to win the 2022 edition, joining Libya (2014) and Tunisia (2011) as countries that have won the competition once while DR Congo (2009 and 2016) and Morocco (2018 and 2020) are two-time winners.
