Makueni Girls' teacher found dead in Kaiti River after missing for a week

Makueni – The search for 36-year-old teacher Sylvester Makau Mulei, popularly known as “Pacesetter,” has come to a tragic end.

Mulei, a teacher at Makueni Girls' High School, was reported missing on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 4:30 am.

The last place he was seen

Mulei was last seen leaving the teachers' residence wearing a light blue t-shirt, blue track pants with white stripes, and open shoes.

Mulei was born in Mukuyuni Limuni Village in Makueni County.

His unexplained disappearance raised concerns among colleagues, students, and family members, prompting a police investigation.

After more than a week of uncertainty, Mulei's body was found in the Kaiti River near Mji wa Wote.

Makueni Girls School mourns

The police have not yet released information about the cause of his death, but they have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to his loss of life.

Makueni Girls' High School has expressed deep sadness following the death of the gentleman teacher, mentioning Mulei as a teacher who respected his students.

“We are deeply touched by the death of Mwalimu Mulei, who was an excellent teacher and a role model for many. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time,” said one of his fellow teachers.

This sad event has left the community members in mourning, while many remember Mulei for his dedication and contribution to the education sector in the area.

Residents of Mukuyuni Village Limuni and his colleagues have asked the government to conduct a thorough investigation to reveal the truth about Mulei's death.

Meanwhile, the residents of Ruiru protested after the body of an unknown man was found in the river.

The body was found floating under a bridge near Ruiru on the Road Thikawith his hands tied behind his back.

Among the increasing cases of kidnapping in the country, angry residents claimed that the deceased may have been killed elsewhere and his body dumped in the area.

Police officers arrived at the scene to calm the situation before removing the body for further identification.
