Nairobi – Minister of Public Service Justin Muturi has condemned the increasing cases of kidnapping.
What Justin Muturi said about the kidnapping
Speaking on Sunday, January 12, Muturi called for the swift arrest of those involved in the kidnapping of Kenyan youths from June 2024.
The Public Service Minister said the series of kidnappings has not been controlled under the President's administration William Rutoand that vice should be prevented.
Muturi noted that he is still struggling due to the emotional upheaval his family faced after his son's disappearance in June 2024.
The former speaker of the National Assembly said that despite being the Attorney General at the time and having a relationship with the national intelligence department, he never got information about the abduction of Leslie.
“I have personally suffered because my son was kidnapped and disappeared, I was not sure if he was alive or dead, which made us worry and left me and my wife and my family in turmoil, it should be remembered that I was the Attorney General of the Government. The Republic of Kenya at that time, but I could not find my son despite making several requests and demands to all levels of the security agencies. Now, more than six months after the ordeal and my release, my son, by unknown forces, has not been charged with any crime and no one has explained why was he kidnapped and held incommunicado,” Muturi said.
Muturi pointed out that the silence from the government has removed the public's confidence in the security agencies and those involved should be arrested.

Therefore, he wanted national security to reveal information about how many youths have been taken by kidnappers, how many have been released, and how many are missing.
Why is IG Kanja facing jail time?
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja is in danger of being sentenced after he failed to appear in court to hear the kidnapping case.
Kanja, along with Amin and Interior Minister Kipchumba Murkomen, were previously ordered to appear in court to answer questions about recent cases of enforced disappearances.
The trio failed to appear when it was first mentioned on December 31, 2024.
The case was adjourned to January 8, where Kanja and the two respondents were expected to appear again to explain why the previous orders were not implemented.
Murkomen sent his lawyer, Danstan Omariwhile Kanja and Amin did not participate.
The Inspector General of Police (IG) cited his concerns with other security-related duties.
In an early hearing on Wednesday, Judge Luck Mwamuye adjourned the case until the afternoon to allow Kanja to appear.
