Julius Ogamba has responded to a social media post claiming that he has resigned from his post as Minister of Education.
Has the Minister of Education Julius Ogamba resigned?
The Minister of Education took to social media to highlight a tweet from a fake account using his name and title.
Twitter, posted by an account with more than 11,000 followers, claimed the CS resigned due to the increase in kidnappings across the country.
“It is with a heavy heart but with a good conscience that I stand before you today to announce my resignation as the secretary of the Council of Ministers of Education. This decision did not come easily but I must take it to remain true to my values, principles and values. An unwavering commitment to the Republic of Kenya ,” the statement read in part.
Given the account's massive following and its use of CS Ogamba's photo as a profile picture, it was almost impossible for Kenyans to dismiss reports of his resignation.
However, Ogamba clarified the issue, pointing to the post and saying that he has not resigned from his post in the Ministry of Education.
“Beware of fake account of X claiming to be Cabinet Minister of Education,” Ogamba's statement read.
Ogamba announces the much awaited KCSE results
The claims of Ogamba's resignation emerged a few days after the announcement of the results of the Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2024.
Kenyans were eagerly awaiting KCSE results, with some suggesting the delay in their release was too long.
On Wednesday, January 8, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) downplayed concerns about the delay in releasing the 2024 Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.
The source, who asked to remain anonymous, explained that the examination board is striving to ensure that the results are released within the time set by the Permanent Secretary (PS) of Education Belio Kipsang.

According to the official, there was nothing out of the ordinary to make Kenyans feel that there is a delay in releasing 2024.
He reiterated the views of the Deputy Minister of Education, who said as in 2023, KCSE results will be released in the second week of January.
This came after PS Kipsang denied claims that the results had been delayed to allow cheating for big national schools.
PS said that the examination council takes enough time to ensure that all issues are resolved so that the results are given properly.
Kipsang had promised that the results of the 2024 KCSE examination would be out within ten days.
