Who killed IEBC officer Kilifi Aisha Abubakar?

On Monday, January 13, DCI announced the arrest of Isa Omari, Brian Shikuku Mudari and Bryan Templer Oyare.

According to the DCI, the three suspects are linked to the killing of an officer of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Kilifi county Aisha Abubakar.

Isa Omari, Brian Shikuku Mudari and Bryan Templer Oyare were chased from their hideouts in separate but coordinated operations in the coastal area, following a 7-day intensive manhunt for the perpetrators of the 3am robbery,” DCI said.

During the arrest, several items, including the mobile phone of the deceased's son, were recovered.

“Today, a thorough forensic investigation saw the arrest of three suspects, where one of the stolen phones belonging to the deceased's son and other important exhibits were recovered,” detectives added.

What did IEBC say about the death of Aisha Abubakar?

At the same time, IEBC issued an official statement following the tragic death of Aisha Akinyi Abubakar, acting Kilifi county election administrator.

Aisha was brutally murdered on the night of January 4, in her residence in Utange, Mombasa County.

Her 18-year-old son suffered serious injuries during the attack and is currently receiving treatment.

The commission condemned the barbaric act and asked the security agencies to speed up the investigation to arrest those responsible for Aisha's death.

According to Mombasa County Police Commander Peter Kimani, two intruders, one with a machete and the other with a knife, invaded Aisha's house through the kitchen.
