Malindi – In a tragic situation, Mashamba Primary School head teacher, Naomi Chitsaka, who survived a road accident that cost her a leg in 2017, lost her life on Friday, January 10.
Chitsaka died after a small passenger plane crashed along the Malindi-Mombasa highway near Kwachocha.
The Cessna 172 aircraft experienced engine problems shortly after take off from Malindi Airport at 8:00 in the afternoon en route to Nairobi.
In an effort to land safely, the pilot tried to steer the plane onto an open road but lost control while avoiding an oncoming truck.
The plane fell to the ground and caused a fatal accident that killed Chitsaka and the bodaboda attendant, Felix Hamisi.
Witnesses described the horrific incident as the plane's propeller cut off Chitsaka's head.
It seems luck bad was following him in his life as he had recovered from two accidents before the plane killed him.
Taifa Leo reports that the recent incident occurred after an accident in 2017 that caused one of his legs to be amputated.
“We were involved in another minor accident last week,” said Stephen Mwagona, Chitsaka's son, explaining the pain of losing their mother.
Chitsaka, described by his colleagues as a brave teacher, was preparing for an interview for promotion when the accident ended his life.
“She was a brave woman who overcame the biggest challenges in life. Losing her life in this way is a great pain,” said the Deputy Principal, Mwaka Rubea.
According to aviation officials, the plane had a pilot, a flight instructor, and a student pilot, all of whom survived with minor injuries and were treated.
Hamisi, a famous boda boda driver who regularly attended to the late school principal, also died on the spot.

Hamisi's widow, Loice Reuben, mourned her husband, recalling his last words before he left to take Chitsaka.
The accident also claimed the life of a third person — another boda boda driver, Vincent Kasena Ruwa.
The investigation continues to determine the source of the engine problems that caused the tragedy that left great sorrow.
