The newspaper reported on the criticism of the Minister of Public Services, Justin Muturiagainst the Kenya Kwanza administration in relation to the increase in kidnapping cases.

Speaking on Sunday, January 12, Muturi called for the swift arrest of those involved in the kidnapping of Kenyan youths since June 2024. Muturi noted that he still feels the emotional pain his family went through after the disappearance of his son in June 2024.

The former Speaker of the National Assembly said that despite being the Attorney General at the time and having ties to the national intelligence service, he never received information about the abduction of his son, Leslie.

“I have experienced personal pain because my son was kidnapped and lost. I didn't know if he was alive or dead, which made us worry and left me, my wife, and my family in emotional turmoil. It should be remembered that I was the Attorney General of the Republic of Kenya at that time, but I could not find my son despite making requests and claims to all levels of security agencies. Now, more than six months after the ordeal and the release of my son by unknown forces, he has not been charged with any crime, and no one has explained why he was kidnapped and held incommunicado,” Muturi said.
