According to Citizen TV's report, some body parts were missing, which added to the seriousness of the crime.
The family has confirmed that a DNA test will be carried out to definitively confirm the identity of the remains.
Tokesi was reported missing for over a week, with her last contact with her longtime boyfriend, Phillip Orwa.
Police have already launched a manhunt for Orwa, who was last seen and is the main suspect in the ongoing murder investigation.
The relationship between Tokesi and Orwa, which lasted eight years, is now under intense scrutiny as detectives try to understand the circumstances that led to her death.
When the family spoke to the media, they expressed their shock and sadness, describing Tokesi as an intelligent and hopeful girl whose life was cut short.
Police have urged the public to come forward with any information that may help arrest Orwa or shed light on the events that led to Tokesi's murder.
