Rachael was a pillar of strength for the late footballer during his long battle with neurodegenerative disease (MND).

However, earlier reports said that there was no great love between Rachael and her mother-in-law.

Ezekiel Otuoma's mother's message to Rachael

Speaking at the funeral held in Gem Ramula, Siaya County, Otuoma's mother thanked Rachael for carrying the burden on her behalf.

He recalled how he raised Otuoma's father when he was sick and explained the hardships he went through.

He blessed him and said:

“Rachael, thank you very much. I am very grateful for carrying that burden on my behalf. I took that responsibility for three years when Otuoma's father was very ill, and I saw how heavy the burden was. God bless you for carrying that burden,” he said.

He also encouraged Rachael not to leave the family, saying he was ready to welcome her home at any time.

“Your house is down there. Feel free to visit your husband's house at any time. I will always welcome you. I have no grudge against you. Forgive me for past differences. God be with you,” he said.
