The family of Patience Simiyu, a 17-year-old form four student at Menengai High School in Nakuru, has found relief after she was found alive after many days of anxious searching.
Patience, who was reported missing on Friday, January 10, after a disciplinary problem at school, was rescued a few hours after news of her disappearance was published by TUKO.co.ke.
How was the missing Nakuru girl found?
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, his father, Japheth Simiyu, explained that the solution came after his classmate read the news online.
Simiyu added that the compassionate student told her mother about the place Patience used to visit regularly.
“The mother informed us immediately, and we informed the police officers about the rumour,” he said.
The area, described as a dangerous place, prompted the authorities to send several officers to accompany the family in the rescue operation.
For luck good, they found him there as his classmate had shown, but they had to hide and ambush him so he wouldn't see and run away.
“We are very grateful for the support and prayers we have received from the community and the police,” he added.
Where is Patience now?
Her discovery brought great relief to her grieving mother, who had previously described the pain of losing her daughter as more intense than the pain of labor.
While the family expressed deep gratitude for the quick intervention, they also urged the school to implement better strategies for handling disciplinary issues to avoid such horrific situations.
For now, Patience is safe and reunited with her loved ones as the investigation continues to determine the circumstances that led to her disappearance.
The family thanked all those who helped to save him and called for continued support to ensure the safety of children in such situations.
