American sprint sensation and 100m Olympics champion Noah Lyles and fellow Olympic gold medalist Rai Benjamin agree with track and field couple Hunter Woodhall and Tara Davis-Woodhall that the upcoming 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo could witness record-breaking performances.

The exciting discussion unfolded during a recent episode of the Beyond the Records podcast, where Lyles and his fellow Olympian co-host Rai Benjamin welcomed the couple.

The episode was a golden reunion, as all four athletes clinched gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics in their respective events. The lively conversation quickly turned to what’s next for the golden couple.


Olympic champion Tara Davis-Woodhall is looking within for her new year’s resolution, inpird by her therapy journey.


“All right, golden couple, what’s next?” asked Lyles, setting the stage for the couple to share their ambitions.

“We just started training for the 2025 season. We’re coming for world records, baby,” Hunter Woodhall confidently responded.

Woodhall who claimed gold in the men’s 400m T62 at the 2024 Paris Paralympics Games and Davis-Woodhall who claimed gold in Olympics games prior, are eying record-breaking performances in 2024.

Lyles, visibly energized by their enthusiasm, continued the conversation, asking, “That’s what I love to hear. So, you just started practice, Worlds 2025 in Tokyo, a redo of the Olympics, you excited?”

Woodhall’s responsended enthusiastically before highlighting the difference in mindset between the Olympics and other major competitions.

“In the Olympics, you’re not worried about running fast; you’re worried about winning,” he explained.

Woodhall further added a glimpse into their mental approach for the upcoming season.

“It’s really great to go into a new year knowing you’re the best you’ve ever been, so you can build on that,” he said. “When you’re at the top, the road’s wide open. It’s about how good you can get, and that’s where we’re at.”

“We both got our own American records to break,” said Lyles agreeing.

“I agree that’s where I’m at too. Like now that I got the little monkey off my back,” added Benjamin in agreement.
