The Ministry of Sports has supported a close relative of Ezekiel Otuoma with KSh 500,000.
How much did the government give the Otuoma family?
Beth Wamalwa, a representative who spoke in Siaya at Otuoma's funeral, shared the ministry's condolences.
He urged mourners to encourage athletes to talk about their problems and create support groups that would make it easier for services to help.
“My name is Beth Wamalwa from the Ministry of Sports, I am here with my colleagues to express the condolences of the Chief Secretary and Cabinet Secretary, there is a lot happening to our boys and girls out there, some of you are hiding. Encourage these young people to form support groups if there are issues they will unite and tell us that we are losing sports, men and women to know,” he said.
Beth said that the ministry was giving KSh 500,000 to be divided between Rachel and Otuoma's mother.
He disclosed that the money will be sent to a different account because they did not want a dispute about the money to arise. He added:
“To his family, the Ministry of Sports offers its deepest condolences. Your legacy lives on forever in the hearts of those you inspired. The Ministry of Sports is making a donation to support Rachel and Ezekiel's mother. We are donating KSh 500,000. We have spoken to Mother and Rachel, and they have agreed… we have to say this because we understand what money does. We have agreed that the money will be divided in half 250,000 each We have asked them to divide their accounts, and we will send them that money.”
What did Otuoma's daughter say?
