Inside Shabana’s plan to maximise matchday revenue

Shabana is aiming to capitalise on their consistently high gross revenue collection by implementing an electronic ticketing system to boost gate collection.

Kenyan Premier League side Shabana FC is gearing up to transition to an electronic ticketing (e-ticketing) system. This move is aimed at optimising revenue collection amidst record-breaking performances at the gate.

The club has consistently grossed over one million Kenyan Shillings (Ksh) from gate collections, with their most recent match achieving a record-high revenue of Ksh1,058,800.

This milestone was reached during their thrilling 2-1 victory in Saturday’s league fixture. The previous record of Ksh 1,015,000 was set in a home match against KCB in December last year.

Tore Bobe stunned Tusker with a dramatic 2-1 victory at Gusii Stadium, breaking their ticket sales record.

Acknowledging their massive and passionate fanbase, Shaban FC sees the migration to e-ticketing as a crucial step toward maximising revenue and streamlining operations.

In a session on X (formerly Twitter), the club invited fans to voice their opinion on changes they want to see implemented with most calling for a change in the ticketing.

Through a statement shared via the club’s official X page, the club acknowledged the need to implement an electronic ticketing system, highlighting that plans were in place after addressing issues from last year’s trial run.

“We all agree we want to go e-ticketing. We tried it for seven games last season and identified some gaps. We want to fully address them before we bring it back,” the club said.

“As we work around the clock to fix some gaps we had in our e-ticketing platform and revert to it, kindly be informed we always communicate on ticketing arrangements and always encourage our fans to ensure they are given a receipt upon payment,” it further read.

While Shabana’s determination to embrace technology is evident, it is not the first FKFPL club to explore e-ticketing. Giants such as Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards, who also boast large fanbases, have attempted similar transitions. However, these initiatives have faced challenges, with clubs reverting to traditional physical ticketing or selling tickets at designated offices.

The Gusii-based club is keen to learn from these experiences to ensure the sustainability of their e-ticketing system.

By addressing the gaps identified during their initial trial, the club aims to provide a seamless and secure platform for fans while reducing inefficiencies associated with physical ticketing.

Shabana shock Tusker to keep KCB reigning at the FKF Premier League top spot

Tusker have lost a chance to go on top of the FKF Premier League standings after a defeat to Shabana.

The move to e-ticketing not only promises increased transparency and accountability in revenue collection but also enhances the fan experience by simplifying the ticket purchasing process.

With their increasing numbers of supporters, Shabana’s commitment to such innovation and growth positions them as a trailblazer in the FKF Premier League.
