Kirinyaga – Leader of the Narc Kenya party Martha Karua has announced his intention to run for the presidency in the 2027 General Election.
During the funeral ceremony in Kiandieri, Kirinyaga County, on Friday, January 10, Karua announced that he had finished running as a running mate.
Christened the iron lady of Kenyan politics, Karua, announced that she will not play second fiddle to any candidate in the next election.
“I want to tell my good former Senator Daniel Karaba that I am not out of any position as a running mate, I will run for the top seat in the next election. I will not be anyone's deputy again. At the right time I will do that. Ask for your votes for the presidency,” he announced while being cheered by the attendees.
This will not be Karua's first stab at the central office. A seasoned politician, Karua has won praise for his advocacy of justice.
His desire to run for the presidency in 2027 marks his departure from his position as Raila Odinga's running mate under the alliance of Declaration of Unity during the 2022 General Election.
What did Karua say about the kidnapping
In his speech, Karua did not hesitate in his criticism of the President's administration William Rutoaccusing it of failing to address important issues affecting Kenyans.
He positioned himself as a symbol of opposition to what he called the government's negligence and disregard for the rule of law.
Karua took special issue with the increasing cases of kidnappings and extrajudicial killings, which he claimed were orchestrated by criminals within the police force.
“This abduction and killing of our youth is now a worrying situation that must be stopped immediately,” Karua said.
Karua noted that the country's youth, who represent its future, have been victims of kidnappings, disappearances, and unlawful deaths, while the criminals appear to be linked to the security institutions tasked with protecting them.
How Gachagua plans to remove Ruto from office
In other news, the former vice president Rigathi Gachagua he hinted at creating a strong political movement before the 2027 elections.
He expressed his belief that the movement will help remove Ruto from office.
Gachagua also reiterated his commitment to protect the residents of Mount Kenya and their votes, saying that they will never be gambled away.
