The Nation reports that those who died in the incident on Saturday morning, January 11, include two adults and a child.

About 40 other passengers on the Dreamline bus suffered serious injuries in the accident.

The accident happened in the Nukiat area along Londiani Junction-Muhoroni Road, a popular route for travelers heading between Mombasa and kiss.

Photos and videos shared on social media platforms gave a grim picture of the severity of the accident.

The bus, with its windows and windshield broken, was seen lying on the side of the road.

Traffic officials and emergency response teams were seen surrounding the accident scene as they worked hard to pick up stranded passengers and treat the injured.

How did the Londiani-Muhoroni road accident happen?

The bus, which was traveling from Mombasa to Busia, was reported to have had a conversation with the driver who was unable to handle it and caused the vehicle to veer off the road.

Kericho County Traffic Enforcement Officer (CTEO) Selina Chirchir confirmed the incident and revealed that the driver lost control of the vehicle which landed on his left side after sliding off the road.

The bodies of the three deceased were removed from the wreckage and transported to a nearby medical facility for post-mortem examination. The Dreamline bus driver was caught by the police at the scene.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Bumula, Bungoma county, three people lost their lives in an accident that happened in the Mayanja Kibuke market.

The police have confirmed the deaths and have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.

These incidents highlight the rising number of road accidents across the country, sparking fresh calls for stricter enforcement of traffic laws.

According to authorities, most road accidents in Kenya are caused by speeding, driver fatigue, drunken driving, careless driving, poor road conditions, and driving unmaintained or dilapidated vehicles.

The National Transport and Safety Authority has repeatedly urged motorists to prioritize road safety to reduce the alarming rate of deaths.
