Uasin Gishu – Dadaab Member of Parliament Farah Maalim has been criticized for his harsh remarks during a public event in Kesses, where he criticized those who oppose the President William Ruto.
Maalim's remarks have sparked strong reactions from Kenyans, with many condemning his voice and feelings as divisive and disrespectful.
Speaking on Friday, January 10, at the launch of the Cheboror Last Mile Connectivity project, Maalim strongly defended Ruto's leadership, praising his development agenda and pledging to support his re-election.
In his speech, Maalim commended the Ruto government for what he called unprecedented development in historically marginalized areas such as North Eastern Kenya.
He accepted the long held notion that the regions outside the Garissa Bridge are isolated from the rest of the country.
“Since Kenya gained independence, when we crossed the Garissa bridge we were saying we were going to Kenya, for the first time since we gained independence we have all the development we need, started by none other than our President William Ruto. for the first time since independence where we feel like we are Kenyans,” The teacher said.
He highlighted ongoing projects in areas left behind in national development, highlighting what he described as Ruto's commitment to equality.

However, it was Maalim's criticism of Ruto's opponents that caused a stir among Kenyans online.
Calling the critics “idiots,” the lawmaker dismissed their opposition to Ruto's leadership, claiming that Ruto was legitimately elected.
The MP also vowed to give Ruto more votes in the 2027 General Election, claiming that areas like the North East and Upper East would give him 99% of the vote.

On Tuesday, July 9, a video trending on X mentioning Daadab Member of Parliament Farah Maalim threatening General Zs.
However, the former deputy speaker of the National Assembly dismissed the online video as false.
According to Maalim, the video was edited by unknown people from Somalia to distort the truth about what he said.
Following the video that went viral, Sarova Whitesands said they could not continue the Daadab MP's stay due to public anger caused by the remarks.
