Eldoret: 5 people including a child died in an accident involving three and a school bus

What caused the accident on the Kapsabet-Eldoret highway?

The accident happened when the tricycle was heading Eldoret when it collided with a Cheptabach High School bus.

Initial reports indicate that the bus was not carrying students but residents of Nandi Hills who had hired it to attend a social gathering in Uasin Gishu county.

The local police reported that the deceased included the driver of the Nissan threetwo other passengers, a 4-year-old child, and one passenger who died while being treated.

“The driver of the matatu died from head injuries while being treated in Mosoriot area. The passengers of the school bus and the matatu were taken to Uasin Gishu and Nandi hospitals,” the police told the Nation.

Police reported that the child was the only occupant of the school bus who died after being ejected in the crash.

It is believed that the driver of the matatu, who was reportedly driving at high speed, was drunk at the time of the accident.

The vehicles involved in the fatal accident were taken to the Mosoriot Police Station while the investigation continues.

The deceased were taken to a mortuary in Kapsabet for preservation, pending identification by family members.

3 people died after an accident on the Londiani-Muhoroni highway

In a separate incident, a fatal accident on the Londiani-Muhoroni road claimed the lives of three people.

On Saturday morning, January 11, an accident was reported to have claimed the lives of two adults and a child. About 40 other passengers on the Dreamline bus suffered serious injuries.
