In his farewell post, Kainerugaba described his journey on X as “a whirlwind and exciting journey” since joining the platform in 2014.

“To all my dear followers, It has been a whirlwind and an exciting journey together in these streets for the last 10 years since 2014. However, the time has now come under the instructions and blessings of my Lord Jesus Christ to leave and focus more. His army, the Uganda People's Defense Force (UPDF),” he wrote.

Will Kainerugaba return to X?

The general promised to return to social media at the appropriate time after fulfilling what he described as the urgent work of God to restore peace and security in the area.

“I know that you all love me, and that you will continue to follow me like the wind for a long time after this. At the right time in the future when it becomes necessary, and after fulfilling the urgent assignment of Allah to restore eternal peace and security to all his people in our region , we will always meet again.

“I LOVE you all very much, and in whatever you do, continue to support Uganda, Africa, and our revolutionary President, the Chief General of the Opposition, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Goodbye, and God bless you all!!!” Kainerugaba added before deactivating his account

Kainerugaba's rising political profile, including mobilizing support through public rallies, has fueled speculation about his presidential bid.

While Museveni has denied preparing him for the presidency, the so-called “The Muhoozi Project” continues to spark debate.

Why is Kainerugaba's move considered controversial?

Kainerugaba's decision comes days after he sparked outrage by threatening to “cut” opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.

While the general later described the threat as a joke, it drew widespread criticism.

This is not the first time that the general's posts have caused controversy. In 2022, his remarks about invading Kenya forced Museveni to issue an official apology.

He has also made controversial statements about international conflicts, including the hypothesis of Uganda in the war with Russia Ukraine.
