Murang'a Ahepa family after stabbing her lover while arguing about food

A woman from Maragua Ridge in Murang'a county has been hospitalized after her boyfriend allegedly set her on fire.

Grace Wanja and her boyfriend allegedly had a dispute before the man, identified as Irungu Muturi, poured kerosene on her and escaped after setting her on fire.

According to a KBC report, the police have launched an investigation into the incident and are looking for the suspect.

In addition, doctors treating the middle-aged woman at Murang'a Level 5 Hospital said she suffered more than 60% burns.

However, he was transferred to the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) for specialized treatment.

What happened to Grace Wanja?

Speaking to journalists, Wanja's sister, Mary Wangari, tearfully narrated what happened before her sister was attacked by her boyfriend.

“He asked for food, and my sister told him he hadn't cooked that night. He said he would take revenge, and that's how he entered the house and poured kerosene on my sister, setting her on fire before escaping,” he narrated.

He explained that they shouted for help, which made other villagers come and take the victim to the hospital.

Lucy Wangari, another sister of the victim, made a request for help to pay the hospital bills, especially at KNH, noting that they are not able to take care of her.

Wangari also expressed concern about how the victim's four children would be cared for, adding that one of them is already in a children's home.

“We are asking for help because we are unable to send our sister to KNH. She has four children; one is in a children's home, and the rest are now alone. Whoever did this act should face the law,” he said.
