Nairobi Education Minister Julius Migos Ogamba has announced that the results of some candidates for the 2024 Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) have been cancelled.
Why 840 won't receive their KCSE 2024 results
On Thursday, January 9, Minister Ogamba revealed that 840 candidates will not receive their results due to examination errors.
At the same time, the Minister said the results of 2,829 candidates have been withheld due to suspicions of being involved in examination errors.
Ogamba disclosed that 91 contracted professionals, including teachers and other staff, were implicated in helping candidates with examination malpractices and that disciplinary action will be taken against them.
“840 candidates were involved in examination errors in 2024 and their results have been cancelled, the results of 2829 candidates who are accused of being involved in examination errors have been prevented from passing the investigation. test errors,” Ogamba announced.
How many candidates got E in KCSE?
The Minister of Education revealed that 712,537 candidates did not get a grade to enter university.
According to the minister, out of 962,512 who took the KCSE 2024 exam, 48,333 got E grade.
Minister Ogamba revealed that 476,889 candidates obtained marks that will enable them to continue with diploma studies.
“The number of candidates with grade C- (TVET Diploma) and above was 476,889 (49.41%) in the 2024 KCSE examination compared to 401,216 (44.42%) in 2023. The number of candidates who passed grade D+ and above. ) was 605,774 (62.76%) in the year 2024 KCSE Examination compared to 526,222 (58.27%) in 2023,” The minister said.
Why 10 Homa Bay teachers were arrested
Related news, 10 teachers of Pala Masogo Secondary School, including the center manager and inspectors, were officially charged with leaking the KCSE exams.
The suspects denied the charges three of test errors. They were brought before the Senior Resident Magistrate of Homa Bay Christine Auka.
The teachers were arrested after they allegedly copied the 2024 KCSE chemistry paper.
The judge gave each suspect KSh 2 million bail or KSh 1 million cash bail.
