KCSE 2024 Results: Kisumu Girl Who Topped KCPE 2020 Speaks Out After Getting A Grade

A Kenya High School student who came second in the 2020 National Primary School Examination (KCPE) has held his position at the top.

Angel Gakenia scored an average grade of A plain in the 2024 Kenya High School National Form Four Examination (KCSE).

He has again emerged among the top candidates in the county following the recently announced KCSE 2024 results.

Her family thanked God for their daughter's results since primary school.

Gakenia explained that she studied regularly, even during holidays, to get good grades.

“I read a lot when I'm at home; I study well here because it is quiet and my neighbors are quiet people. I set aside time in the morning and evening for personal studies and self-assessment,” he said in a Citizen TV report.

However, the girl revealed that she was sometimes overwhelmed by people's expectations about her performance.

He said that everyone always expected him to do well because he was the second best student in the 2020 KCPE exam.

“I can't say that the first form was the best because everyone's expectations were very high and I was not comfortable with it. But over time, I got used to the fact that people will always have expectations about what you do,” he explained.

Her mother, Beatrice Odanga, also revealed that she received many questions about her daughter's progress from people she knew.

“People always ask you how the girl is doing, if she is doing well, what her grades are, and if she is continuing at the same level or if she has slacked off. I kept faith and encouraged him, and that's how we got this result,” Odanga said.
