Kipchumba Murkomen entrusts the Ministry of Sports, He will give information about the state of soccer fields in the country

Murkomen thanked the President William Ruto by entrusting him with leadership roles in three different ministries.

Reflecting on his service at the Ministry of Sports, Murkomen shared how he enjoyed and was very comfortable.

“I'm a sports fan. So when I came here, I felt at home,” Murkomen said.

The minister also highlighted important achievements during his tenure, especially the establishment of an office to combat sexual harassment with the aim of protecting athletes and reducing such incidents within the sports community.

The former senator also spoke about the development of sports infrastructure, including the construction of the Talanta stadium and the renovation of the Nyayo stadiums and Kasarani.

Will Kenya host CHAN 2025 and AFCON 2027?

Murkomen noted that these efforts are ready for Kenya to host the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) and the 2027 African Nations Cup (AFCON).

“There were many stories that we would not do it. But I want to say here today that we are going to host CHAN. I want to thank CAF President, Motsepe for having a good opinion,” he said.

On his part, Mvurya acknowledged the foundation laid by his predecessors.

“I want to thank CS Murkomen and Ababu Namwambawho were here before, for the solid foundation and speed they have put in the ministry,” Mvurya said.

Previous ministries held by Kipchumba Murkomen and Salim Mvurya

Murkomen previously served as the Minister of Roads and Transport from October 2022 to July 2024, when he was appointed to head the Sports ministry.

Prior to his current appointment, Mvurya was Minister of Mines, Blue Economy and Marine Affairs from October 2022 to July 2024.

He then headed the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry for a short time before being handed a new job by President Ruto.
