A family in Likoni, Mombasa county, has fallen into mourning in the few days of the New Year 2025.

When was Hamisi Ibrahim shot?

Neighbors and friends gathered at Fatuma Haji's house to console her after the death of her little son.

Fatuma's son, Hamisi Ibrahim, was allegedly shot dead by the police on Tuesday morning, January 7.

Saddened and distraught, she recounted the events that culminated in her son's untimely death.

“After he finished having breakfast, he left the house to check on his friend while he was waiting for his uniform to be repaired. Shortly after, we heard gunshots. I am very hurt that my son died a painful death like this. behind his head,” he told painfully.

Hamisi Ibrahim's mother defending her son

According to the deceased's mother, the 14-year-old boy was expected to join the 9th grade on Wednesday, January 9.

Fatuma described her son as a good-natured boy who aspired to be a farmer, ignoring allegations of criminal behavior.

“He wasn't a thief. He was hanging out with his friends before it was time to go back to school. I haven't heard any charges against my son. I've never heard of them,” he said.

Geoffrey Ruheni, the sub-county police commander, claimed that the young man was part of a gang of youths involved in violent robbery and threatening residents.

He said the group threatened police officers who “they had no choice but to use guns”.

After that terrible situation, Fatuma and her family demand justice and responsibility from the authorities.

“Killing is not a solution, arrest the child and take him to the police station instead of shooting the little child,” he said with tears in his eyes.

Faith Akinyi Anyango was saddened when she heard that her son, Calfan Omondi, was allegedly shot dead by the police.

Omondi died on his way to Kosawo Primary School in the county of Poisonous pick up his KCPE result document.
