Meeting in Nairobi on Tuesday, January 7, a team of 25 MPs from the National Assembly and the Senate observed that recent events, among other misdeeds by government officials, were threatening the security, dignity and democratic rights of every Kenyan. citizen
The MPs continued their attacks against the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and the Director of the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Mohamed Amin, whom they blamed for failing to perform their duties to protect Kenyans and bring to justice the perpetrators of such illegal acts.

Studying corruption in the recent sudden release of abductees during the December 2024 celebrations, the MPs asked the government to form an investigation team that will determine the circumstances under which the youths were abducted.
“We ask for a thorough and transparent investigation to be carried out in relation to these incidents of abduction, as well as appropriate action for all the people involved, we do so with great regret because the police have denied involvement, have shown neutrality, have conflicts and remain vigilant to the actors despite them to be an Independent Institution in accordance with our Constitution,” they said.
What do Gachagua's allies want Ruto to do?
They asked the president to approve the release of the remaining people kidnapped from protest against the government in 2024.
Amidst their concerns, the MPs expressed their dismay at the lack of accountability of government officials.
They were worried that even after the release of the kidnappers, no one was brought to justice.
Perhaps in response to the growing number of enforced disappearances, the MPs asked the nation to create an Independent Public Commission of Inquiry that will investigate a series of kidnappings targeting alleged government critics as well as organized criminal attacks against Gachagua and his supporters. .
They also called on the parliament to take action, pay the National Assembly, the Senate and the County Assemblies to convene special sessions during recess to discuss and investigate the abduction.
What is Gachagua's position on kidnapping?
Gachagua later sent a twitter message supporting the MPs in their quest.
According to him, kidnappings and extrajudicial killings have been sanctioned by the government, calling for an open process to investigate them.
“I am very involved in this call for an Independent Commission of Inquiry on the issue of kidnapping. We should find the details of these incidents of serious human rights violations, identify and prosecute all those involved in kidnapping and brutal murder, and ensure this. it won't happen again,” he said.
The statements of the leaders came a day after the five kidnappers detained in December 2024 were released.
