A TOTAL of 120 teams are expected to participate in the soccer tournament known as the Vunjabei Cup 2025 which will be officially launched on January 11 this year in different stadiums.
Speaking to journalists, the Marketing Director of Vunjabei Company Fadhil Ngajilo said that previously it was known as Ngajilo Cup, now it has been improved to a great extent, where the prize for the first winner has been increased from one cow to 10 million shillings.
Ngajilo, who is the Chairman of the CCM Parents' Association in Iringa region, said they have increased the prizes for the second and third winners from a set of sports equipment to three million Shs for the second winner and two million Shs for the third winner.
He added that the other prizes will be for the best cheering group where they will get 5 Lakhs for the best writer (Newspapers, radio, TV and blog), the best player of the tournament, the best scorer of the tournament and the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
On his part, the Secretary of the Iringa Manipsaa Football Association, Yahaya Mpelembwa said that they have planned to make a highly competitive league and the previous games will be played in a knock-out style with the aim of finding the best 50 teams that will play home and away.
He said that the teams that will enter the top 50 will be equipped with all the necessary equipment such as jerseys, balls, socks and the fields that will be used in the preliminary matches are the fields of Kihesa, Hoho, Mlandege, Ipogoro
