Kenyan TikToker Owen Githanga, who lives in the US, recently went viral after sharing a video of his unusual food shipment following a short visit to Kenya.
How many pancakes did the famous TikToker carry to the United States?
The content creator made many laugh when he explained that he traveled back to the United States with 500 pancakes, among other things.
In the video, Owen explained the reason for his decision saying:
“One of the goals was that when I leave Kenya and return to the United States, I return with 500 chapatis. Every time I return home, I travel with chapatis, but before it was about 250. This time, I decided to double it. I just looked for a mother who had the heart to cook 500 pancakes for me.”

“The idea is to put them in ziplock bags and then store them in the freezer and later eat them. It's not that I don't know how to cook chapati, I prefer it this way and there is also a certain taste of chapati from home that is different from the ones I cook here,” he explained.
Owen explained that although the flour is easily available in the US, what he longs for is the authentic taste of Kenyan pancakes.
In another video of TikTokOwen revealed his plan to freeze the pancakes, ensuring he has a long-term supply to eat later.
“The idea is to put them in ziplock bags and then store them in the freezer and later eat them. It's not that I don't know how to cook chapati, I prefer it this way and there is also a certain taste of chapati from home that is different from the ones prepared here,” he explained.
He also explained how he went through customs with his unique luggage.
“There are things that are usually banned and restricted when you arrive in the United States, but pancakes are not one of them. Prohibited items are fruits, vegetables, seeds, and meat products, but pancakes are not part of those items,” he said.
His exciting and interesting trip sparked various comments online, with some asking him why he didn't just carry flour to make his own pancakes.
