The Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has issued a new appeal to Kenyans for information on the whereabouts of Collins Jumaisi, the main suspect in Mukuru's murder.
Did the DCI promise a reward to anyone who helps find Jumaisi?
In a statement issued on Thursday, January 2, DCI said Jumaisi is still in critical condition after escaping from the police in August 2024.
The investigative unit said it is offering a cash reward to anyone who can help find Jumaisi.
“DCI is asking for the public's assistance in providing information that may help in the re-arrest of Collins Jumaisi Khalusha…a large cash reward will be offered to anyone with reliable information that will enable the arrest of the suspect,” the DCI statement said. part.

The suspect, who is a resident of Shiru Sub-district in Vihiga county, was charged with murder in court before his unexpected disappearance.
Information about Jumaisi's whereabouts can be reported confidentially through the #FichuaKwaDCI anonymous hotline at 0800-722-203 or through the police numbers 999, 911 and 112.
“Furthermore, you are welcome to visit any police station in the country. Your help can greatly affect the re-arrest of the wanted suspect. Every information is important,” DCI added.
How did Jumaisi escape from the hands of the police?
Jumaisi, along with 12 Eritrean detainees arrested for immigration violations, reportedly walked out of Gigiri Police Station without restriction.
On August 19, 2023, a witness at the station claimed to have seen Jumaisi leaving the main door with two police officers whom the witness mentioned.
The witness was reported to have seen all the suspects including Jumaisi in the corridor outside their cells. The door of Jumaisi's cell was open, and he was no longer barred.

The witness also reported seeing one of the Eritreans giving money to the two officers, who said they were heading to the canteen.
The witness noted that one officer later appeared drunk, a claim confirmed by insiders at the station.
While the officers were not there, it is said that the suspects took the opportunity to escape through the report desk and disappeared into the night.
