Why did the passengers jump out of the Kirinyaga matatu
It is said that the car's brakes failed after passing the city of Kagumo, and despite the driver being asked to calm down and stay inside as he tried to control the car, several passengers panicked.
“The driver begged them, saying, “Don't open the door; I will try to control the car until it stops, and everyone will get to their destination. However, some said, “Rather than die in the front, I'd rather die here.” So they started jumping out one by one, and the driver couldn't stop them,” Samuel Kamau, an employee of 4NTE SACCO, disclosed.
One of the people who witnessed the incident, James Mugo, described the sad situation and revealed that he encountered the body of the deceased.

The remaining passengers in the matatu arrived safely, escaping without injury.
However, four people who came out suffered serious injuries and were rushed to the Kerugoya hospital for treatment.
The head of the fire and rescue unit in Kirinyaga county John Kiama has asked motorists to prioritize safety measures.
“All the time, cars should be inspected. Everything should be checked, and drivers should not drive too fast. Because if they had gone slower, those lives would have been saved,” Kiama saw.
