An atmosphere of sadness prevailed inside the Indoor Stadium as a group of volleyball players stood at the entrance of the requiem hall and others in the middle of the volleyball court, where they practiced.
Participants of the vote, which included Kenya Pipeline volleyball team and Malkia Strikers, arrived at the hall, led by Wanja's brother, Kevin Kimani.
Players threw a football over his casket as they observed a moment of silence to honor the departed soul.
Wanja's two brothers broke down as they read his tribute, bringing mourners to tears.

Where will Janet Wanja be buried?
The former Malkia Strikers player, who won the hearts of Kenyans with his hard work on the volleyball court, will be buried on Friday, January 3, at the Lang'ata Cemetery.
A candlelight vigil was held on Tuesday, December 31, 2025, at his residence at Vikam B Centre, Clay City, Kasarani.
