The wait for the results of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) is almost over following the announcement by the Minister of Education Julius Ogamba.

When will KCSE result 2024 be declared?

Speaking at the Omogusii Cultural Festival at the Kenyoro School Ground in Mugirango North Constituency, Nyamira County, Ogamba confirmed that the KCSE results will be announced in the second week of January 2025.

“The KCSE exam results will be announced in the next two weeks. Normally KCSE results are announced in January and we adhere to that tradition,” Ogamba said.

Defending his decision to announce the 2025 results, Ogamba explained that the results usually announced in December are for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), not for KCSE.

“This year, we did not have the announcement of KCPE results, and that may have caused confusion. We will announce the results within the first two weeks of the year,” he insisted.

Why is there a delay in the declaration of KCSE results?

Earlier, Ogamba said candidates who took the 2024 KCSE exam will have to wait for a long time for their results as the Ministry of Education analyzes the exams to eliminate fraud.

The publication explained that the ministry introduced a new system of anonymity and took precautions to prevent mix-ups after the marking was completed.

More than 965,000 candidates who took the KCSE nationwide are expected to receive their results in January 2025.

Ogamba cited indiscipline and other challenges that delayed the release of results three weeks after the examiners left their centers.

Inspectors noted that cases of cheating were reported in many examination centers across the country.
