Kakamega – The former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has called on the Luhya community to unite behind one of them instead of continuing to follow the opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking to journalists in Western Kenya on Sunday, December 29, Gachagua said that unity within the community is the basis for elevating their leaders to the political summit.
The DP questioned why the Luhyas would continue to rely on Raila, who is from a different region when they had capable leaders in their field.
According to Gachagua, Western Kenya has capable leaders, and it is high time for the region to stop looking for political leaders outside.
The deputy president also slammed Raila, calling on Luhyas to free themselves from “Raila's politics.”
“There is no way Malwa can be a great leader if you are still following him Raila Odinga to give you a political orientation. You know you have your leaders who are qualified by any definition. It is time to free yourself from Raila Odinga's politics. as a community, why don't you first unite as a region, and if you have to negotiate with him, negotiate from a position of strength as a community, but you cannot be under him, that is impossible?
He likened it to the challenge faced by the President William Rutowho according to Gachagua aimed to divide the area of Mount Kenya in order to weaken it.

He mentioned the leader of the Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-K) Eugene Malwaan experienced politician and former Cabinet minister, urging the community to support him and elevate him to higher leadership positions.
Gachagua said the Luhya community had to unite and support their people, stressing that without unity, the importance of Malwa on the national political platform will decrease.
He explained that with joint support, Malwa will have a say when negotiating with other leaders about the area.
“Wamalwa is a great leader, but the greatness of a leader is characterized by unity of purpose and where he comes from, it is up to you to make him a great leader and raise him to higher levels of leadership by being united. “We say that we will involve Eugene Wamalwa and others, but his importance in the national political dialogue will come from the unity of purpose of the Luhya nation and the number,” he added.

Other News Gachagua claimed that he was removed from office for protecting Kenyans against the injustices of Kenya First.
He said that one of the reasons for his indictment is to go against the demolition of people's houses.
He also expressed happiness that the court heard the cries of the victims whose houses were demolished and ordered them to be compensated.
