Speaking to journalists in Western Kenya on Sunday, December 29, Gachagua said that unity within the community is the basis for elevating their leaders to the political summit.

The DP questioned why the Luhyas would continue to rely on Raila, who is from a different region when they had capable leaders in their field.

According to Gachagua, Western Kenya has capable leaders, and it is high time for the region to stop looking for political leaders outside.

The deputy president also slammed Raila, calling on Luhyas to free themselves from “Raila's politics.”

“There is no way Malwa can be a great leader if you are still following him Raila Odinga to give you a political orientation. You know you have your leaders who are qualified by any definition. It is time to free yourself from Raila Odinga's politics. as a community, why don't you first unite as a region, and if you have to negotiate with him, negotiate from a position of strength as a community, but you cannot be under him, that is impossible?

He likened it to the challenge faced by the President William Rutowho according to Gachagua aimed to divide the area of ​​Mount Kenya in order to weaken it.
