Elders in Yatta have intervened to help a 24-year-old man who dug a grave in his house.

Kamende Ngwili is said to have invited people to his burial on January 1, 2024, at his home in Kitheuni, Yatta.

According to a Musyi FM report, he was planning his death on the said date.

After knowing the young man's plans, the village elder told the local chief's assistant so that they could talk about ways to help the young man.

The chief visited the scene and advised the man against any plans to harm himself.

The two leaders also informed the local police to help organize counseling services for the 24-year-old.

The event, which was shared on Facebook, evoked mixed feelings from the public, with many sympathizing with Ngwili.

In other news, TUKO.co.ke reported that a retired public servant left his community speechless after discovering that he had dug his own grave.

David Mwangala Nduni said he wanted it to be a secret, but he needed help in the construction, and when he called the workers, the news spread throughout the village.

He said he had prepared for his death because of a family feud, and he knew his only son would not be able to cope with the pressure after his death.
