The former president welcomed him Ruto on December 9, with political analysts predicting the possibility of a political alliance.

However, the two leaders did not mention that possibility in their remarks after their surprise meeting.

Despite this, their close relationship may have been revealed by Ruto's decision to bring some of Uhuru's insiders into the government.

The president recently appointed the former governor of Kiambu William Kabogoformer Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui, and former Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe as ministers.

Will Gachagua follow Uhuru?

In a press conference at his home in Nyeri, Gachagua said he will respect the position of the voters instead of individuals, no matter how strong it is.

Answering the question, the former deputy president emphasized that the ordinary voter of Mount Kenya will not follow a leader who calls himself the king of the region, saying instead that they are leaders who follow the wishes of the community as a whole.

Therefore, he denied any possibility of joining the political direction of Uhuru, if indeed the retired president has any political direction.

“I don't know if Uhuru is going to Ruto. I don't have that information. But I have said many times that the people of this area do not follow the leaders. They are the leaders who follow the people. I do not follow anyone; I follow the people. I have said that I have extensive consultations with the people of this area so that we can decide our future political. The consultation is going on and it's very deep, I won't be able to follow anyone but the people.” he said.

Gachagua's recent declaration came several months after he highly respected Uhuru as the leader of Mount Kenya, hinting that the retired president would be the one to guide the region on its political direction.

At the same time, the former deputy president continues to hint about the birth of a political coalition that will oust Ruto in 2027.

Who will Rigathi Gachagua support in 2027?

All signs point to a possible collaboration between him and the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyokawho may be the leader of the union.

It is known that since Gachagua was removed by a vote of no confidence, he will not hold elected public positions for the time being.

Speaking in Makueni on December 18, Gachagua said Mount Kenya will unite with Ukambani to enable Kalonzo to win the presidency.

He said the Wiper leader has shown kindness to Mount Kenya, remembering how he supported the dead former president Mwai Kibaki.

Gachagua said the region owes Kalonzo for helping Kibaki when he was facing opposition from the 10th Parliament.
