- Daniel Muthiani, aka Sniper, was killed a year ago, and his family has vowed not to bury his body until justice is served
- The family decided to bury Sniper on December 13, 2024, then postponed it to December 27, and now indefinitely
- According to reports, Sniper's funeral was postponed due to an alleged land dispute as they had sold a plot of land.
Meru: The funeral of Meru blogger Daniel Muthiani, popularly known as Sniper, has been postponed indefinitely due to an emerging dispute.
Why Was The Sniper's Body Preserved For Over A Year?
Originally, the family had planned to bury him on December 13, 2024, one year after he was captured and brutally killed.
Five suspects have already been charged in connection with Sniper's death, but local authorities are still demanding the arrest of those who planned the brutal act.
Sniper's family and the Meru community vowed to continue fighting for justice, asking philanthropists to stand with them even as the funeral continues.
His remains, which were kept for several months while the family sought justice, were to be buried after prayers at the Three Mile Stadium and his Kabuitu home.
Why Sniper Won't Happen On December 27th?
It seemed like everything was ready, but on December 13th, the funeral did not take place and was postponed until December 27th.
According to Meru Daily's Facebook post, the burial was delayed because their land had been sold.
“The delay has given rise to a surprising explanation for the financial challenges previously mentioned by the family. Now it has become clear that the family does not have a burial plot, as the land they live on was sold at an unknown date, and the title is in the hands of the buyer,” said the Facebook post.
“However, the recent discovery sheds new light on the delay, pointing to the controversy surrounding their living conditions and the land crisis,” another part read.
TUKO.co.ke spoke to Sniper's widow, Irene, to confirm the matter, but she did not want to discuss it.
How was the sniper killed?
Another news revealed that a postmortem examination showed that Sniper, a blogger from Meru, was strangled to death.
State doctor Johansen Oduor confirmed that Sniper had marks on his neck and showed signs of asphyxiation.
He said Sniper had broken ribs and head injuries, indicating that he was strangled before being thrown into the river.
DNA samples were taken to confirm the identity of the decomposed body, and the family expressed their satisfaction with the forensic process.
