Nairobi- Former Malkia Strikers player and famous volleyball queen Janet Wanja has sadly passed away while being treated at the hospital.
Janet Wanja was recently diagnosed with gallbladder cancer, and Kenyans expressed great concern about her treatment.
As the news of his illness became public, messages of encouragement began pouring in from around the world, with fans, teammates and friends expressing hope for his recovery.
Through his brother, soccer player Kevin Kimani, his family asked for emotional support from Kenyans.
Wanja is praised for her outstanding career in volleyball and her role as the training coach of the Kenyan national team.
He was the “Best Setter” at the 2007 African Championships and represented Kenya at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.

Some Kenyans had started sharing a paybill number to help his family pay for treatment, but the Kenya Pipeline company announced that it would cover the bill.
“I am deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of another dear friend; Rest in peace Wanja. You will forever be remembered as a unique and charismatic volleyball player, whose legacy shines in the history of Kenyan sports,” said artist Daddy Owen.

Rachael mourns the death of her husband Ezekiel Otuoma
In other news, on December 21, the wife of legendary football player Ezekiel Otuoma, Racheal, sadly announced the death of her ailing husband.
The heartbroken woman wrote a heartbreaking message, affirming her undying love for her husband even after his death.
Racheal revealed that Ezekiel died on her birthday, adding that she will cherish every moment they spent together.
