Kampala – East Police Uganda they are investigating a case where a preacher died after a Christmas prayer vigil.
Pastor John Michael Ekamu of the Agule Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) church in Serere District was chasing away demons that haunted Simon Ogwang on Tuesday evening, December 24.
Monitor reports that the 30-year-old's parents took him to the preacher to be freed from the demons they believed possessed him.
All was well until Ogwang went rogue and kicked the 52-year-old preacher.
Eastern Kyoga Regional Police Commander Damalie Nachuha confirmed the incident.
The pastor fell after the kick but got up to continue the service.
On Christmas morning, the pastor appeared in the pulpit for a special celebratory service but fell as he went.
The efforts of believers to take him to the hospital were unsuccessful as he refused and declared, “the devil has been defeated.”
For luck worse, his condition worsened and he was rushed to Serere IV Health Centre, where an X-ray revealed that his pancreas was injured.
He died while doctors tried to save him through surgery; The body of the deceased was transported to the Soroti Regional Referral Hospital for examination.
Ogwang was arrested and detained while the officers began their investigation.
