Newspapers, December 25: Yoweri Museveni Lands in Raila Odinga's Castle

On December 25, local newspapers published various topics, especially Christmas celebrations in the country.

Elsewhere, one of the newspapers wrote about the planned visit of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to Siaya county, where he was born Raila Odinga.

The newspaper devoted space to the government's security measures during the peak of the Christmas and New Year celebrations in 2024.

Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Security, Raymond Omollo, confirmed that security is high throughout the country, urging Kenyans to be careful in their areas.

“The security situation has improved significantly. We want to continue this situation by collaborating closely with all communities, elected leaders, and religious and non-religious leaders,” The Standard quoted PS as saying.

This came a few days after the government revealed its plan to protect Kenyans during the celebrations.

The government called all the police who were on leave, as well as creating a National Security Coordination Center (NMACC) at grassroots levels to coordinate security.

“Kenyans should expect to see more presence and visibility of the police, as we have sent special units alongside regular police to increase patrols and strict surveillance in major cities, places of worship, and areas with important infrastructure,” Omollo said.
